Hello Brothers,

Just so you know on your latest version of TheocBase, 2020.05.0, you can no longer assign parts to students, make changes to assignments, or make changes to public speakers. This is when running iOS 13.5 and iPadOS 13.5. I have an iPhone 7 and an iPad Air 2. Thank you brothers so much for all of your hard work.

I cannot say anything as howcto fix the calendar on Android. It works well on mine.

I think if there are problems with the data, starting everyone off from the same sqlite file simultaneously, is a good idea, very pragmatic. From then it would be nice if syncing through Dropbox was possible again. But in a group I would be hesitant to change whatever it is that works...

Are you sure your access control settings have not gone off during the update?

Would that be a setting in the desktop version of TheocBase, if so may I please have some instruction as to where to find it. Another question, I set up other brothers to be able to run TheocBase on their desktops by sending them my syncfile, would that pose a problem? I had them set their access control settings so as not to be able to make adjustments. As always, thank you so much Marc, you are always a joy to work with. And I do mean that sincerely.

Side point, a brother using the Android version of TheocBase is unable to tap on Midweek or Weekend Meeting without having the calendar pop up. Thanks again!

1. Hmm, the calender in Android, maybe his fingers are just a little bigger than mine, I don't know, it works for me....

2. In desktop, Settings, there is a menu entry Access Control (only when connected to Dropbox, since the Access Control makes no sense when you aren't.) Switch language to English if you are not sure. And if you aren't on English now...

Make sure you assume enough roles, you may need more than you think.

3. Syncing by sending the syncfile around. Probably possible, but it sort of misses the point, I think. The way you describe it seems to work though... Do you mean the 'syncfile.json' file from Dropbox, or the local 'theocbase.sqlite' file? The latter would be better. But then again, when you do not use Dropbox, you have no control over their roles, as they will be actually running a standalone configuration. So they can change anything and everything.

In response to 1, when he tried to tap "Weekend Meeting", the calendar appears no matter where he taps.

In response to 2 & 3, I actually sent the "theocbase.sqlite" file before I had them sign into Dropbox. The reason I did that is because previously, our OCLM Overseer tried to put TheocBase on two computers. The result was that it doubled to quadrupled all the parts. This was because he had two database/sqlite files I believe. Could I actually forgo sending them my database or .json files? Thanks.

Hello again Marc,

I just thought I would give you an update on the whole not being able to adjust things on iPhone and iPad. As it turns out, unsurprisingly of course, you were right, it was settings on my end. In an effort to see what the Access Control settings would do I unchecked all the boxes on my iMac. That in turn made it so none of the brothers could change anything or see announcements on their devices. Now I know that my computer acts as the administrative device for TheocBase. Thanks again for all of your help!

Thanks for feedback. It should still not be the case that Access Control Settings change during update. I wonder if installing as Admin would make a difference. But that part is too technical for me. I just know these settings may change during an update, but not why. Glad you fixed it.

The settings didn't actually change during the update, I changed the Access Control settings to see how they affected TheocBase before the latest update. That way I would be able to know how to have the brothers appropriately set up TheocBase on their end.

Well, yes I understood that post. But I was thinking about the first question. When you could not make assignments anymore, my conclusion would be that something changed. If you were able to do the assignments before, that is. So that is the bit that is vague to me.

I see what you are asking. My Coordinator and Christian Life and Ministry Overseer updated the mobile version of TheocBase on their devices and found that they could no longer make changes to student parts. I thought originally that the update to TheocBase was the cause of this issue. That however was not the case. Instead, it was the changes I had made in the "Access Control" settings on my computer, before the update, that caused this to happen. In fact, I could not even change any of the information on my computer until I checked all of the boxes in "Access Control". Once I checked all of the boxes, they were then able to make adjustments on their devices.
