Hi everyone,
Thank you for the nice work with the release 2021.01. I have found a problem that force Theocbase to quit unexpectedly. Each time I tried to go to publishers, to review the talks assgined to each one the program quits. Any clue of why it is happening? I tested in MacBook Pro and Microsoft Surface, in both I have the same problem but with the Mac it took a bit longer to crush.
Thank you so much for your hard work!
Ruben
@Ravi thanks for feedback. It looks like for an uphappy few the problem is still there and even worse. For anyone concerned: they are working on it.

I've had the same issue, and I'm glad its not because I use an ancient Windows 7 laptop lol!
My temporary workaround has been to finishing assigning the parts using the fantastic Android and IpadOS apps. No issues with doing it this way, and no crashes at all using the mobile platforms.
Then afterwards I sync the Windows version of Theocbase to the dropbox file, and print. I have no crashing doing the printing on the Windows program.
Great job, and I love the program and the new updated CLM Schedule template!
@Filip You should preferably not delete any publishers.
In my case removing any existing (even if non-active) assignments from the assignment table in the database did the trick. It looks like a new update is coming out this week, so you could wait that out maybe. Otherwise please contact me via PM

Hello, I have the same problem. I imported the March/April workbook before the update. I did have to remove and re-assign all assignments before I recognized this problem but after the update, so that wouldn't help I guess. And it affects all brothers, who had any kind of assignment before, even only school assignments.
Additionaly dropbox synchronization is taking much more time, since I am experiencing the bug.
Just to add my two cents, Theocbase is crashing on my MacBook Pro 2019.
It occurs whenever I click on any publisher.
And i have not imported March / April workbook yet, neither have I assigned any items.
I may have to go back to an old version of Theocbase.
@ Ruben, yes that WILL work ;-D, and of course it is something we can go to, but it is a last resort really. Some report 40% of persons causing a crash, it would seriously mess up history, as Sergej also notes.
@Sergej, I have a few Teamviewer appointments already. So we cannot do one soon, maybe Friday? If they don't get a solution before that. [EDIT] Or maybe tonight at 22h CET?

We now think it is not importing the workbook before the update, but actually assigning in those months that causes the crash. So far the only solution seems to be to erase these assignments from the database.
Anyone willing to test this? (if you are scared to test, read last paragraph) It means you have to do these assignments again, so hopefully there is a printout already. With the crashing database, it will not be possible to print now.
How to remove the assignments from the database.
First make a backup. In Settings use the "make backup' function or use 'go to database location' and make a manual copy of the file called theocbase.sqlite.
Unzip the attachment (you cannot attach txt files) and you will get a very small txt file. In Settings go to the >_ sign in the bottom right hand corner and navigate to the txt file you unzipped and select. It says all is OK if you saw no errors. This has removed any assignment you made after February. You should be good to proceed now.
If you do not like the idea of testing this yourself, can I get into your system with Teamviewer and see if it works? If you want that, just let me know.
I opened this file, writes that "the command was completed successfully" but the tasks were not deleted.
Hi all,
Im sorted with the issue. This is what I had to do:
1. Identify all publishers that made the program crashed (in my case 9 of almost 100 publishers).
2. Delete them from the data base under "persons".
3. Create the publishers again using the program (normal procedure) and enroll them again.
FYI: All of them were Brothers and 1 was not a servant, all the rest were servants.
Thank you for all the help Marc!
Regards.
@Ruben (@Andreas, see below) There were no assignments in my crasing database, additionally the entire programme had been removed in Settings - LMM meeting. It was the residual info in the database though, that caused the crash. Removing that info did the trick. (Removing items in TB itself, only sets them to inactive in the database, but it is still there).
Also any assignment for those months which are added after the update, should not causes issues.
Can we do a Teamviewer session? I am on CET, I don't know where you are, but it should be possible. Or could you send me your database, for me to work with. That has more privacy issues though. Don't give your details here on the forum. If you want either just let me know, and I'll PM you about contact details. (since this is visible for everybody here)
@Andreas, Also for you I would like to set up a Teamviewer session, or work with the database. If you would agree, just let me know, but do not provide your details here, which is visible for everybody. I'll PM you with contact details.

Hi Marc,
Thank you for your help. Just FYI I didnt assign any of the talks for March-April.
Another observation: when you say we will not be able to print out, what are you referring to? I can print out any of the other months that are assigned, no issues. The crushing only comes when I try to adjust or view the publisher list, in my case the problem is with Brothers that are servants, for the rest of Brothers (not servants) or any Sisters no issues.
I'm willing to do any test you need.
Thank you again for your hard work!

Yes, these 3 things come together:
crash on 1 clicking a person, 2 getting the timeline, 3 hovering over a persons under (1) in the assignment dialogue.
These issues seem to be related, and it looks like an internal conflict in the database. Hopefully some progress can be made over the weekend.

Just to have some info, because we are looking into this: did you import the March/April workbook before updating to 2021.01? We think that may play a role...
