Hi

Unfortunately, it appears that the Dropbox synchronise functions from iOS devices has a broken link:

From iOS (iPad or iPhone) I click the cloud. After successfully logging in to Dropbox, (including 2-step verification), I am then asked to 'ALLOW' Theocbase to edit / view Dropbox files and folders etc. However, once I click 'ALLOW' it takes me to a blank white screen and nothing happens. When I go back to Theocbase, it has not syncronised and simply asks me to repeat the process of logging in > Allowing Dropbox to access Theocbase files etc.

If I try and view the blank white page on a web browser it displays a Dropbox error page: Error (4xx) We cant find the page you're looking for.

Perhaps Marc or someone else will have a better suggestion but I will share something that has worked in the congregation I attend.

If you are the TheocBase Administrator or you know who is, you could have them try to delete the cloud data which needs to be done from a computer. To do this do the following:

1. Hover your cursor over the cloud icon in TheocBase.

2. Click "Delete Cloud Data".

3. When you do this a box will pop up after a little bit asking if you want to "Sign Out", or "Synchronize". Click "Synchronize" , not "Sign Out". If you Click "Sign Out" all of your information will disappear.

4. Ask all of the brothers in your congregation who use TheocBase to open the TheocBase App, wait 5 to 10 seconds until they see a downward arrow appear in the cloud icon, then tap it. Please note, always wait 5 to 10 seconds after you open TheocBase before you update your information. If you don't, you may inadvertently cancel changes that have been made.

5. A box will pop up that says "The cloud data has been reset, your information will be replaced. Continue?", have them select "Yes". 

6. If another box pops up that says something to the effect of "The same information can be found locally on your device. Do you want to save this information?" Have them select "No". If they do not select "No", TheocBase will not sync properly and it will cause issues in the long run.

Following these steps has really helped to alleviate a lot of issues in the congregation I attend. We have at least 20 brothers who use TheocBase and we share a single login. I hope this works for you.

Deleting Cloud Data is only an option in the Desktop Version of TheocBase whether you're using a Windows Computer or an Apple Computer. Until the update yesterday, I could not log in to Dropbox from within TheocBase with my iPhone running iOS 15.1 or iOS 15.2. However as soon as I updated TheocBase, I was able to successfully log in and all of the information synced.

I never logged out of Dropbox from within TheocBase on my 12.9" iPad Pro, nor my Desktop Version of TheocBase on my M1 MacBook Pro and I did not have any issues adding or getting updated information. The problem TheocBase seemed to be having was initiating the authorization to access Dropbox. If you did not log out, you didn't need to do anything and you wouldn't have even known TheocBase was having an issue. The only way I found out about the login problem is because my iPhone was not getting the right information so I tried to log out and log back in since that works sometimes. The only issue is, I couldn't log back in.

As it turns out, I found out that our Coordinator kept selecting "Yes" when he was asked if he wanted to save local changes. This caused information to show up incorrectly for several of our brothers and some of it was even missing. If you need to input information into TheocBase, I have found it very helpful to schedule one part or make one change, then try to sync/upload that change. If the window pops up asking if you want to save local changes and you select "No", the information you inputted will go away, however TheocBase will keep working properly. It's probably better to only lose one part or one change and not several weeks worth of information. I hope this is helpful.

Hi brothers,

I have updated my apps (android 11) but I am still unable to sync. Could anyone help me, please?

EDIT: Specifically the outgoing speaker is not synced up with my Android phone.

Hello Brothers, 

     TheocBase Version 2021.10.0 has been released for iOS, iPadOS, and Android. I was able to log in to Dropbox from within TheocBase on my iPhone running iOS 15.2 and it worked! Thank you TheocBase Developers for fixing the Dropbox syncing issue, it is so greatly appreciated!!!

Quando è pianificata una nuova versione, tutte le nuove stringhe dell'interfaccia utente verranno offerte per la traduzione. Ai traduttori verrà concesso del tempo per lavorarci (secondo la mia esperienza tra 1 e 2 settimane), quindi verrà rilasciato l'aggiornamento. Ho visto l'avviso ai traduttori qualche giorno fa. Ovviamente tra questo e il rilascio effettivo non verranno apportate modifiche al codice del programma.

In breve: mi aspetto un aggiornamento abbastanza presto e qualsiasi nuova informazione non verrà elaborata da ora ad allora. Alcune settimane fa, però, ho capito che sentivano di avere una chiara comprensione di ciò che è cambiato sul lato Dropbox.

Il problema si può risolvere per Android, ma per iOS non si può... a meno che sull'app store non venga caricata la vecchia versione

When a new release is planned, any new UI strings will be offered up for translation. Translators will be given time to work on those (in my experience somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks), and then the update will be released. I saw the alert to translators a few days ago. Obviously between that and the actual release, no changes to programme code will be made.

In short: I expect an update  fairly soon, and any new information will not be processed between now and then.  A few weeks ago though, I understood they felt they had a clear understanding of what changed on the Dropbox side.

Hello Marc, 

     I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not but when I tried to log in to Dropbox from within TheocBase I noticed something new. This time Dropbox wanted me to verify a puzzle by picking the right object. This is the first time I've been asked to do this in the past week or so when trying to log in. It could be nothing or it could be something I'm not sure. Maybe it could give the developers something to work with? Thank you for your continued support. ?

In connection with ownership of a Kingdom Hall, a specific report has to be drawn up every year to meet legal requirements. So a letter from the branch said: the branch provides instruction on how to draw up the report.

So I called them a little embarrassed, because I felt I looked everywhere without finding these instructions. The brother at the Financial Department went: Oh, that! Yeah... that is a prophecy ...

Hello Marc, 

     I was just wondering if the TheocBase Developers had any update as to how soon a fix to the Dropbox syncing issues is estimated to be fixed? I'm sure I'm speaking for several of us in saying that TheocBase has been a very useful tool and time saver, however it is not something that we can go without using for an extended period of time. Thank you so much and I do realize patience is needed. 

That is hilarious!!! ? That is such a good answer! Please pass on my thanks. I know learning to even use any technology is time consuming, I cannot imagine how much more time consuming it would be to actually write the programming for an App or Program to run. I have gotten just a little taste of the programming side of TheocBase with slightly modifying the database file, and the Templates. Lets just say I did not always do the best job of keeping my cool while learning to do that, it was very frustrating at times. I really feel for the developers of TheocBase having to fix something that Dropbox broke. Thank you and them for all your work and support. ?

No I didn't. I just check the 'News' section of this website regularly to find out about updates. I know these seemingly small modifictions may in fact require a lot of work, most of which is done in spare time.

Hello Brothers, 

     I am not affiliated with TheocBase's support but I just wanted to add that Microsoft Office, namely Word and Excel, were not talking with Dropbox for at least two weeks. I could not upload my lists or schedules from Word or Excel to Dropbox. If Dropbox changed something then the developers of TheocBase are going to have to figure out what changed which will no doubt take some time and quite a bit of work. If Dropbox continues to prove unreliable, perhpas looking into another cloud storage service would be adventageous for the developers of TheocBase, perhaps Google Drive, One Drive or any other service. Just a thought. Anyway, thank you Marc and the rest of the Brothers who work so hard on TheocBase for us, we appreciate this valuable tool that you have provided.

Maybe??? But it looks like a separate problem...

Developers have said something changed on the Dropbox side, so there is not much to do except wait for their update of TB.

As for permissions: remember that within Dropbox, everybody must have edit permissions. I understood that in the past, TB may in some situations somehow have worked if this was not set correctly. If a person is not supposed to edit some things, that is to be set within TheocBase. If Dropbox is not set correctly in this regard, I have no idea what sort of things could go wrong...

Bei mir wurden auch alle Berechtigungen auf die Rolle: Verkündiger zurückgesetzt. 

Ist das bei euch auch so? 

könnte die Anmeldung etwas mit den Rechten zu tun haben?

It is a different rendering, but the permissions look similar. My earlier comment was not about a DB update though. They will be modifying TB to work better with Dropbox.
