I have been working with several persons' databases so far, and I'd like to share some conclusions and possible solutions.

[Edit/inserted: some report importing the Janaury 2019 workbook when last week of December is missing. I am not sure, but this may cause issues, and I wouldn't risk it. Try and fix 2018 first. Under the new version importing December may or may not be an issue, but under the previous it was for Spanish, French, Finnish, Danish and Romanian. If you have this issue, scroll through this thread here and find your language solution: https://www.theocbase.net/support-forum/post/3959-can-t-import-last-week-of-december-2018.html ]

1st. If you hadn't imported a 2019 workbook before the update you probably do not have any issues with TB and may therefore not even be visiting this site, but anyway...

2nd. Those that imported the 2019 workbook, but have a backup from before that moment: put that one back in. The software update is already in place so you do not have to do that again. Open TB, import that workbook now, and you'll be good. Only downside: you probably have to reenter data you had entered after the particular backup, but that is a very small price to pay.

3rd. If you imported the 2019 workbook before the update and do not have a backup: there may not be a full solution but do this:
In TB Settings, click 'open database location'. Close TB now..
Open the database with a good editor (for suggestion see below)
Find the table 'lmm_assignment', sort by date (click date column, perhaps twice to sort from new to old) and delete all records from 2019-01-07 and later.
Find the table 'lmm_meeting', sort by date and delete all records from 2019-01-07 and later.
Find the table 'lmm_schedule', sort by date and delete all records from 2019-01-07 and later.

[Edit, do the same for the lmm_schedule_assist table]

[Edit, doing this for January may not be enough. Display issues in December and even November were reported, and you will have to go all the way back. Make sure to make a print of the schedule and the worksheets, so you can quickly reenter the now lost assignments]

Now find the 'settings' (just that, not anything else that has 'settings' in it) table:

Find every entry that starts with Talk type: (at least you will have English, additionally you have your own language if not English, and you may have additinal languages, if you have ever used workbooks in those)
NOTE! These entries are not necessarily in successive records, certainly the new one (Apply yourself to ...) is not together with the other ones.

Values should be as follows, you'll probably find they aren't. So modify where needed:

Everything that is (or was) a video (Preparing this Month's presentation, 1st call video , 1st/2nd RV video) should have 5
Initial Call should have 6
'1st Return Visit' should have 7 (so should Return visit, if that still occurs without 1st , 2nd or 3rd)
'2nd Return Visit' should have 8
'3rd Return Visit' should have 9
'Bible Study' should have 10
'Talk' should have 11
'Apply yourself to...' should have 17
[Edit Bible Reading should have 4, or as suggested by another user, simply deleted, it will turn up again when needed]

Make sure to find every item listed here and check. If you see any other talk types (Living as Christians1, Digging for Spiritual Treasures etc) delete those records. Remember to do this for all languages you have. I do not know if that is required, but I wouldn't try my luck here as I do not know if these records interact. You don't want to start all over.

Close the database and make sure to save the changes.

If you import January now, it may still not be absolutely right, but probably better. I have not yet found out which other part of the database causes this [EDIT: usually fixing the lmm_schedule_assist table solves the issues I had when I first wrote this]. Importing February now though, will probably show no issues.

Do NOT FORGET in case 2 and 3: remove the sync file from Dropbox, or rename it. Create a new syncfile by clicking the sync icon. If the sync icon stops spinning, that doesn't mean syncing is completed. Certainly for a (new) first time you have to wait it out way longer. So do not close TB, or you'll end up with an uncomplete, or even empty sync file.

Obviously this only cleans desktop.  And it is done outside regular procedure (software). So if you sync clean desktop with the existing Doprbox sync file, you'll redownload the same issues again.

Clean desktop database, disconnect TB from Dropbox and close TB.  Remove the syncfile from Dropbox, open TB, reconnect to Dropbox  and sync .This is like connecting to Dropbox 1sr time: it'll create a fresh sync sync file out of the clean database. Give it time, you may have to resync 2 or 3 times before complete: sync file should be about twice the size of the database file.

Hi Brothers

I am finding this very strange, I follow the instructions above.

The desktop version now looks clean. So I delete the mobile app, re-install and Sync.

I have no assignments on the desktop version yet, but the old assignments show on the brand new version of the mobile app.

The mobile and desktop databases now appear out of sync and do not match.

Any suggestions?

Regards

JP

I still have one problem with January and February (not with March) midweek programs. Apply Yourself to Reading and Teaching -program is shown double on mobile devices.

Is this a feature or a bug in my db? Problem also exists if I use 2018 handout template for printing (there's no 2019 handout available?). With 2019 templates prints are ok.

Thank you for all your support!

I am having the same issue as everyone else with the workbook being scrambled and not formatted correctly and unfortunately I don't know the first thing about code. I use a Mac and even tried deleting the whole TheocBase app and re-downloading it to start fresh. When I reopened the newly downloaded TheocBase, it still had the same issues as before. It also had workbook information already in it from previous months which I thought was wierd because I thought I had deleted every trace of the program. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions please let me know!

@Samuel

I looked at it and the problem was not in the connection between  the meeting items.

The problem was that TB didn't know how to read that assignment, because it expected a dot [.] after the timing (e.g. 5 min.), but the dot was somehow omitted (5 min). So I adapted the way the workbook is read. This adaption includes reading the applicable lesson number for the student assignments.

For those that use Chichewa workbooks, I upload a zipped txt file here. Unzip, in Settings click the button toward the right bottom corner (run special command), OK the warning, and navigate to the txt file and run it. Workbooks will now import properly. It did for me...

You said my instructions were difficult to understand... That's why I said I'm not good atvweiting manuals.

Backing up database is copying database and saving it somewhere, syncing is with Dropbox (if youmuse more than 1 computer or have more people in the congregation using the same database .

But you solved it anyway....

Hi Marc,

your manual was very clear and possible to understand.

I believe that the issue is that not all of the readers are technical, so they will lack some knowledge to understand every step.

Which is ok of course.

Thank you! This helped me very much and it solved my problem. I had the same issue with the December Midweek Meetings. Got solved the same way: deleted everything from december+january and solved the Talk-Values via database editor.

THANK U MY BROTHER :)

Thanks Mark,

I'm a bit new to this stuff so I'm not so sure what the difference is between backing up the "database" and "sync".  Also, You mention something about reading the manual.  So, there is a manual for TheocBase?  Where?

Kind Regards,

Brad

I have reread it several times before posting and try to see where I could improve it, then decided I won't become a manual writer. Though maybe I would try harder if I'd get paid.... (that is not a complaint, but since this is all spare time, maybe it doesn't always come out perfectly) Honestly in the end doing what the manual says, takes less time than reading it... So you could send me the file and I'll try and fix it. I'll PM you.

I am sure there are not many who keep their databases backed up, I think, though we should. We tend to rely on the syncfile, but when the database gets corrupted and you don't immediately notice, harm has probably been done to the syncfile as well. The 'live' file is always theocbase.sqlite. That, without additions.

As far as a good editor is concerned: See below, that is see below in hte signature. There are database readers that allow you to read, but not to store changed. This sqlite browser thingy is free and works for me.

Mark,

Thanks for your help.  I have found your instructions pretty difficult to understand - I'm not too savvy with this kind of stuff. I'm stuck on "Open the database with a good editor (for suggestion see below)".  Um, what do you mean to "open the database"?  All I see is files with .sqlite when I "'open database location'. - see attached snip.

Also, what is a good editor?  Can I use Microsoft Word?

Hey brothers,

When trying to import the Watchtower issue, here's what I've got ( see the attached picture). Did anyone else experience the same problem?

Thank you for your input,

The proposed solution works fine.

You just need to ensure that you have delete all the data (as Marc mentions) even december in case there is some overlap in the assignments.

Hi Brothers!

I just want to mention that even though I did not import the January meeting workbook prior to installing the 2018.11 update, I still had numerous issues (double parts, wrong part order, meeting sections missing etc.) in December, January and February using both the Danish and English mwb epub files.

I followed the guide in Marc's original post to "clean up" the sqlite database, and now everything is running smooth again. Thank you so much for providing this valuable assistance!

One small note: When cleaning up the Settings table, be sure to also remove any mentions of the "Bible reading" assignment, which is not explicitly mentioned above.

Thank you!
