Resolved Better assignment dropdown lists

I think a lot of posters agree that the assigning procedure could do with an overhaul. You will find many posts about this subject. As far as I understand it is being worked on.

I do not agree with particularly one suggestion though, and I would like to mention it: you would prefer to exclude chairmen from having other parts that meeting. It is contrary to instructions. They specify that a chairman may or may not have other meeting parts.

So if you have an understanding in the local congregation that the chairman is (preferably) not being assigned other parts, just do not assign other parts. That wouldn't be the hard part, I think.

Additionally: if the software would be hardcoded to preclude chairmen from being assigned elsewhere during the same evening, many smaller congregations would end up having a problem here. (We are a small congregation but we happen to have many brothers with teaching ability... So we are in a luxury position, and we manage to not assign a brother twice on one evening. But when hard times come, or holidays (!), I am not so sure if we can keep it up)

As far as the codes are concerned, they may look a bit cryptic, but they cannot be too big, otherwise they are not codes anymore. For a list of codes see this posthttp://www.theocbase.net/support-forum/282-abbreviations.html#reply-298Codes appear in the timeline as well.

A problem has been encoutered in the codes in one of the more recent versions, and that has not been solved yet, which is that all assignments are listed as students, even when the assignment was 'just' assistant. The fact that this wasn't solved in the latest version, has also been mentioned already.

maybe I didn't make myself clear, but my suggestion was to exclude the chairman just from the "School"-part (Bible Reading and the section "Apply yourself"). As he is supposed to give counsel on these assignments he can't have student parts the night he is chairman. Of course he can do other parts of the meeting like in "treasures" or the "life as Christians".

As it concernes the Counselor I can understand your thinking, but maybe it's enough to warn scheduler and then let him decide. For example may be, there are few brothers and the chairman has do read the Bible himself.
