Hello

At the moment I'm still having trouble getting along with the New student/speaker chooser.

Is it possible that not everything is displayed correctly compared to the previous version?
For example,in the selection for the Bible reading, many names are displayed without the date of the last assignment, although they already had an assignment once.

Not active students are also displayed.

This complicates the assignments at the moment.

There are many variables in the assignment dialogue, which makes it a challenge to find out what works for you.

As far as showing 'inactive' ones: team are alerted to that, and working on it.

As for a name displayed without dates: only dates are displayed for assignments that have been selected in the top icons (so if you unselect 'non-student parts' and 'other parts') the following may happen. The name of an elder shows up (because he is probably technically eligible for Bible Reading). But since his last 3 assignments may have been (probably have been) 'non-student' and 'other' parts only, the dates won't be shown, since you didn't 'ask' those.

Also if in the bottom part the 3 vertical dots, you select Assignment, rather than Meeting Part or Theme, it is easier to see of someone was an assistant.

Incidentally in a demonstration there is an indirect way of knowing: the student is listed first, the assistant second. So if you see
John Doe | checkbox, the person was assistant to JD
but if you see
checkbox | John Doe, the person was the student with JD as assistant.

I ended up going back to version 2022.01. I could not get my head around how the new "Chooser" works

That said, thank you developers for all the hard work you put into this.

I know an awful lot of work has gone into overhauling the assignment dialogue, and that it wasn't done in just weeks or even months. However bitter and sad, at the end of the day, the customer is always right. And the customer even sees smileys (but he is not happy). The customer feels the old inconveniences  were smaller. The biggest of them in my personal opinion simply caused by losing A for Assistant a few years back, everyone getting an S for Student instead. Somehow it couldn't come back.

Anyway, I can (I have to) work with the new assignment dialogue: I fiddle with the parameters until I see in my list what I want to see, since much of it is already in my head. Then for a different type of assignment I change them again until the list matches what is in my mind. I get the feeling I am fooling, rather than using, the system. Earlier I shared some experiences and tips that somewhat work for me, and hope they help.

I add here, that the timeline offers some useful info, and if you want to know the history of a specific person, no longer visible hovering over the individual in the list, this can be found under his person details. None of this has changed.

Hi,

I also find it very difficult to understand the logic of the new functions. Is there at least a guide somewhere as to what the individual symbols actually mean? What do the squares mean? What do the squares with dashes mean? What do the smilies mean? All unresolved Questions to which I have not yet found an answer. Many thanks for your help.

Hi to all developers,

I also would really appreciate to have at least an option to restore the old chooser. In my opinion, the previous list is much more intuitive, features a very easy way for sorting and displays a perfect history of the assignments.
Please think about it!

Many thanks,
Philipp

I also agree with Andreas. It's very difficult now, and it's hard to see everything on my laptop (13"). I have to check previous weeks to verify that I haven't chosen a student that had a recent assignment.

Another thing that takes a lot more time is that when using a trackpad to scroll in the list, it picks a student very often while scrolling, which rearrange the list when opening it again. I'm using a MacBook Pro 2017.

Hi!

Same observations as Andreas, I am finding it very difficult to understand how it works. Now I take a very long time to do the assignments while before it was so simple to understand who was next.

In any case I really appreciate the work that went into it but honestly Im hoping to get a more simple approach in new releases.

Thank you for the nice explanation Marc, it helped a bit.

Regards
